Day One-Getting ready to flee the cold weather

We are ready to start our Tennessee to Virginia Nascar Adventure with some history mixed in between. The truck and camper sit in the driveway ready to leave tomorrow afternoon. The plan is to make Binghamton, NY and stay at the Cracker Barrel and then motor all the way to Bristol on Friday. It should take about 10 hours.

Bristol has a pretty neat claim to fame. Its main street is situated so that if one stands on the Northern curb you are in Virginia and if you cross to the Southern curb you are in Tennessee. I will try to get Jean to stand on the yellow line so that I can get a picture of her in both states at the same time.

    I am excited for you. Hope Jean doesn't get confused.....maybe you should do it before you go to the brew fest! Wishing you warm weather. :)

Day Twelve-Goodbye to the South

We decided to drive straight home on Sunday rather than split the trip up into 2 days. It was a long day but turned out to be a good decision as the weather was gorgeous at home on Monday. We drove a total of 2,048 miles in 11 days. We met some very nice people along the way and got to experience some more of this beautiful country that we live in. Getting home early allowed us to clean things up and unpack at a more relaxed pace. We then were able to take the first motorcycle ride of the season with family, which for me, even after all of the driving I had already done, was the most cathartic aspect of the week. It was my deep breath before heading back to the grind. Missing is June, someone had to take the picture.......until next time, this is the end of our adventure. Hope all that followed, enjoyed.
